Day 61: Penang

 Penang, Malaysia

Penang was our last minute replacement for Langkawi, Malaysia. It was actually closer to Singapore and our port arrival slot was 11:00 so it has been a slow smooth ride to Penang.

Before we left Singapore, we were able to switch our Singapore dollars for Malaysian ringgits

The plan for the day

Tour to see the Temple of 1000 Buddhas and the Sleeping Buddha

Since docking wasn't until 1100, craft class that is usually just on Sea Days was held. Preparing for St. Patrick's Day

Getting closer and  the city was in view

We have a next door neighbor

The Penang Dock

We were to meet in the Dining Room while the Malaysian Port Authority cleared everything.  Was able to finish the daily Suduko while we waited.

Getting off the ship and heading into the terminal

Arrived at the Temple of a 1000 buddhas

The Reclining Buddha Temple

Headed back to ship but one last stop at a market that specialized in Nutmeg.  Had Nutmeg Juice, biscuits, and souvenirs.

Queen Victoria Clock Tower

The terminal had shops for souvenirs, tourist information, snacks and drinks, and a currency exchange

The other day we got a Pizza delivered to the room for lunch and I ordered an extra beer.  It was in the frig and was a welcome site when we got to the room.

Tomorrow, Phuket!
