Day 28, Feb 1 Moorea

Very short ride from Tahiti to Moorea

Moorea is port that can't dock ships the size of the Island Princess.  We anchored in the harbor and they lowered the tenders into the water and set up a continuous shuttle to shore.

Bali Hai (Moua Roa) Mountain know for being part of the movie South Pacific

Arriving in the Moorea port. Had local entertainment and craft tables.

Our excursion was a catamaran ride out to a very small nearby island. For some reason Rob was humming a song and I heard something about a 3 hour tour (even though our excursion was 4 hours) and "The ship set ground on the shore, Of this uncharted desert isle"

What was in our head as a South Pacific Island, this is it. Tahiti not so much as Papeete is big city and not as many beaches

The boat brought us right up to the shore.

As soon as we got there we got in the water and found there were other things there.
Stingrays

Luau Lunch

Food was cooked in these pits. Food was in Palm leave baskets or other leaves wrapped around the meat.

Some of the musicians who were on the island came back on our boat and played for us the whole way back. Even our tour guide took part in the music.
