Panama Canal Transit

The plan of the day for the ship going through the canal

When we woke up, we were nearing the Atlantic Coast of Panama and the transit through the Panama Canal.  We found a spot early to get a good view.  It was on the same deck as our cabin so easy to get too. And it we could look up and see the Captain on the bridge of the ship.

Nice sunrise from front of the ship

We past the outer break of the Canal

Captain and Canal Pilot, who had come aboard, discuss the transit.

The Atlantic Bridge

Going into the first locks.

Passing a Japanese Car carrier ship called the Texas Highway

Entering the second set of locks.  There was only a few feet between the ship and the wall.

Looking back on the locks and the Atlantic Bridge

Back to the room and relaxing on the balcony

Tug to help us into the first of the locks on the Pacific side of the canal

In the first set of Locks as they lower us down about 40 feet.

So little space between the ship and the canal wall!

The Mule helping us through.

The main building of the Miguel Locks.  Dated 1913

Still hard to believe how little room for error there is but we continued to get through safely.

Coin Toss on the large screen. Was some game on!  ;-)

Playing around with a long exposure out of the back of the ship looking back on Panama
